Remote Desktop Connection Not Working

Note: All default Windows RDP installations may have the Windows Firewall enabled, preventing access to your Windows server via RDP client. To enable RDP access, you must first disable the Windows Firewall using VNC. Please follow the guide below.

In an emergency—such as when your IP is blocked by a firewall, the VPS's Internet connection is down, or you cannot access SSH or RDP clients—you can use VNC to access your VPS. VNC is also useful for OS installation or reinstallation.

Steps to Disable Windows Firewall to Access RDP:

  • Log in to your Virtualizor Control Panel.
  • Click on "List VPS" from the left sidebar.
  • Hover over the desired VPS. When the line highlights, click on the Manage icon.
  • Click on the VNC icon located at the top right.
  • A new popup box will appear. Click on "HTML5 VNC Client."
  • You can now access the Windows Desktop via VNC.
  • Use the search bar on the Windows Desktop to find "Windows Firewall."
  • Disable all firewalls: Public Firewall, Private Firewall, and Domain Firewall.
  • Once all firewalls are disabled, you can access your Windows VPS using RDP clients like Remote Desktop Connection.
